Assessment information

Learners will be able to:

  • Plan the design of their learning solution, following the seven-step TAP Design Process, using the templates to guide them.

Assessment

During the course, learners will plan the design of a work-based learning solution. Achievement will be assessed by the verification of submitted templates, mapped to the seven-step TAP Design Process.

After the course, learners will provide documented evidence of how they have applied their learning to their work.

Session details

Part 1: Getting started (pre-requisites)

Before the workshop, there is an important pre-course preparation document, which will be marked as a milestone within QA’s online platform. To get started on their pre-course work, learners will have to:

  • Read the learning log and establish their goals for the course.
  • Agree upon a work-based learning project with their line manager to work on and after the course.
  • Complete the LNA (Learning Needs Analysis) summary template for the agreed learning project.

Part 2: Three-day workshop

Day one:

  • Introduction to the design process.
  • Review existing resources.
  • Plan learner support resources.

Evening work – update/create any support resource.

Day two:

  • Designing a learning session/module.
    • Write objectives
    • Design assessments
    • Select effective methods for delivering key points
    • Include digital media for efficiency and engagement
    • Design practice activities/recaps

Evening work – Add finishing touches to practice activity/assessment/support resource.

Day three:

  • Showcase resources designed as evening work.
  • Draft delivery resources.
  • Promote the course:
    • Draft course outlines
    • Draft joining instructions
    • Plan promotional activities
  • Quality assurance methods

Part 3: Applying the learning at work

  • Learners will have up to two months to further develop their skills, knowledge, and behaviours within the areas learnt.
  • They will document their actions using a provided template, giving them the opportunity to reflect, plan, and discuss next steps with their manager/organisation.

Obtaining a digital badge

Once the following has been undertaken, a digital badge will be awarded:

  • Completion of the learning within the course.
  • Application of the learning in the workplace within two months of the course.
  • Evidence of reflection and action planning within the learning log.
  • Submitted a declaration of implementation of actions signed by the learner and their line manager.

If nine or more days of TAP Training have been completed and digital badges have been awarded, a TAP Excellence badge can also be claimed by writing to qa.customerservice@qa.com

How can I create an account on myQA.com?

There are a number of ways to create an account. If you are a self-funder, simply select the "Create account" option on the login page.

If you have been booked onto a course by your company, you will receive a confirmation email. From this email, select "Sign into myQA" and you will be taken to the "Create account" page. Complete all of the details and select "Create account".

If you have the booking number you can also go here and select the "I have a booking number" option. Enter the booking reference and your surname. If the details match, you will be taken to the "Create account" page from where you can enter your details and confirm your account.

How do QA’s virtual classroom courses work?

Our virtual classroom courses allow you to access award-winning classroom training, without leaving your home or office. Our learning professionals are specially trained on how to interact with remote attendees and our remote labs ensure all participants can take part in hands-on exercises wherever they are.

We use the WebEx video conferencing platform by Cisco. Before you book, check that you meet the WebEx system requirements and run a test meeting (more details in the link below) to ensure the software is compatible with your firewall settings. If it doesn’t work, try adjusting your settings or contact your IT department about permitting the website.

How do QA’s online courses work?

QA online courses, also commonly known as distance learning courses or elearning courses, take the form of interactive software designed for individual learning, but you will also have access to full support from our subject-matter experts for the duration of your course. When you book a QA online learning course you will receive immediate access to it through our e-learning platform and you can start to learn straight away, from any compatible device. Access to the online learning platform is valid for one year from the booking date.

All courses are built around case studies and presented in an engaging format, which includes storytelling elements, video, audio and humour. Every case study is supported by sample documents and a collection of Knowledge Nuggets that provide more in-depth detail on the wider processes.

When will I receive my joining instructions?

Joining instructions for QA courses are sent two weeks prior to the course start date, or immediately if the booking is confirmed within this timeframe. For course bookings made via QA but delivered by a third-party supplier, joining instructions are sent to attendees prior to the training course, but timescales vary depending on each supplier’s terms. When will I receive my Digital Badge?

Digital badges for individual courses will be issued automatically upon submission of approved learning at course completion.
